There are many things to consider when you are looking for a new home. While the physical home may be the first thing that grabs your attention, you’ll want to make sure that the area around it is perfect for you as well.
Here are some liveability factors to look for when finding your next home:
When you are searching for a home, be sure to take into consideration the location of the property. Factors such as how busy the street is, what the noise levels are like and the future of the neighbourhood are especially important. Try to keep your emotions in check and don't overlook the surrounding area when house hunting.
What type of lifestyle do you picture yourself living at the new house? If you are an outdoor person who likes hiking and biking, then you'll want to find a place with a lot of green space. If you are active in your community, consider looking for a home that is close to cultural, community and athletic centers. Taking your lifestyle into consideration when purchasing a home can help ensure that you continue living a life that you love.
When house hunting, you'll also want to note how close the home is to different amenities. Find out how far the nearest grocery store, hospital, restaurants and other shops are. If you're a parent, you’ll also want to know what schools are in the area, how far away they are and what their reputation is. Being close to schools and amenities is also great for resale!
Bonus: Future Plans
Although you might be looking to purchase the home now, take into consideration your long term plans. Do you plan on working from home at some point? You might want a home office. Do you plan on having kids in the future? You'll want to be near a school. Regardless of what your plans are, evaluate your current situation and look at where you may be in 5 or 10 years and if the homes you’re looking at make sense.
