Finding a real estate agent can be a challenge, and the recent events of COVID-19 hasn't made it any easier. While a portion of the market is waiting on the sidelines for the health crisis to pass, a large number of people still need to move. A real estate agent is essential during these times, as their knowledge will help you navigate the constantly changing market.
Luckily, most real estate agents are easily found with a simple online search. What's not so simple is choosing who to trust with possibly the largest and most important transaction of your life. Here are a few things to look for when finding an agent online to ensure they have the tools and experience to achieve your home buying/selling needs.
Check Their Online Presence
The first and most obvious thing to look for is a strong online presence. Check out their website to ensure it has all the information you would expect from a good agent. Browse their properties, testimonials, and their About page to get a better sense of who they are. Visit their social media pages to see if they are up to date on current events and if they have posted any recent sales/purchases in your area.
See If They Are Open For Business
Another thing to look for is how they have adjusted to new rules and regulations surrounding COVID-19. Are they still open for business? How have their services changed since the pandemic? Do they offer any additional services, such as virtual showings, to help you buy or sell your home online? Not all real estate agents have adapted to these changes, so finding one who has is key during these times.
Schedule A Meeting
You will likely want to meet with the agent before making any final decision. This may be in the form of a safe trip to a neutral location for a quick chat, or a video call from your home. Either way, you should be able to get a sense of their personality and if it's a good fit for you. If you feel uneasy or uncomfortable with the meeting, you can always search online for a new one.
